1. I just moved to Lodi and need a “Residential Parking” sticker to park on the street, is that true?

Answer: All residents parking vehicles on any borough street must have a residential parking sticker affixed to their vehicle or will be summons under ordinance 194-16. This ordinance applies to the hours of 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM on all days unless otherwise suspended by the Lodi Police Department.


2. Where do I go to get a “Residential Parking Permit (Sticker)?

Answer: Parking permits are available at the Lodi Municipal Building on the Second Floor in the Inspections Department. They are available free of charge during the hours of 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM – Monday through Friday and are closed on all holidays. The vehicle being registered must be registered through DMV to an address in the Borough of Lodi. No out of town registered vehicles will be granted permits without proof of registration. The person registering any vehicle must also have proof of residency such as a NJ Drivers License, PSE&G Bill, Mortgage Bill, Rental Lease, etc.


3. I have friends or family coming over to spend the weekend or will be staying over for an extended period of time. Do they need a permit to park on the street?

Answer: Yes, this ordinance applies to all vehicles. If a guest is staying for one or two nights, they may call the Lodi Police Department at 973-473-7600 and provide the license plate number, make, model and color of vehicle to communications and they will be put on a list to avoid a summons. If the stay is going to be extended, they must come to the Lodi Police Department with their registration and they will be issued a Temporary Parking Permit based on the length of their stay. Temporary Permits are only good for a maximum of 30 days.


4. Do I have to register my burglar alarm with the Lodi Police Department?

Answer: All residential and commercial burglar alarms must be registered with the Lodi Police Department. This information is stored in our Computer Aided Dispatch Database in the event of an emergency requiring notification to the owner and is not used for any other purpose. There is no fee at this time to register your Security System.


5. Is the Lodi Police Department currently hiring new police officers?

Answer: The Lodi Police Department is a NJ Department Of Personnel governed agency and hires from active, certified DOP eligible list. We follow strict rules and regulations governed by this agency in our hiring process.
